FAQ Boudoir Questions:
Who is the photographer?
Myself (Meg Sockel) and/or Katie. The entire studio will be closed for your shoot and only we will be there. Scott has nothing to do with the editing or viewing of any images.
What is Boudoir Photography and what is your photography style?
The literal definition of boudoir means “bedroom” in French. But with boudoir photography, every photographer, and every person, has her own definition and perception of what the term mean to them. Some think “trashy poses on a bed.” But that is not my definition or style for boudoir at all. I define boudoir photography by the style of my photographs. My style, and goal, is to create images that display the side of a woman that only her partner gets to see. I want to show the side of a woman that is soft, peaceful, beautiful, sensual yet sexy and flirty.
What should I expect during my session?
Expect the session to last an hour to 2 hours. Expect to work together to find the best poses and angles that will compliment you and show off who you are. Expect to laugh and have fun. Honestly, the hardest part is keeping it a secret!
Do you photograph men in boudoir sessions?
No, I only photograph women in a Boudoir session. Sorry guys!
What should I bring to my Boudoir Session?
I do not have lingerie here so you need to bring your own. Bring options and lots of them! I can help you pick once I see what you have! Bring some lingerie that you are inspired by, makes you feel sexy, accessories you love and the best, hottest and highest heels you own!
Should I go tanning before my shoot?
Tanning is fine, but to be honest I do not like it. Tanning beds cause crazy tan lines under your arms and the smile lines under your bum and those show during your session. Also, if you tan too much, you will look orange and I cannot fix orange. I prefer a spray tan done by an actual professional. They can dial in the perfect color and make sure you look even and perfect!
Can I drink before and during my shoot?
Sure but I want you to be safe about it. If you have more than 2, please have someone pick you up. If you are a girl that turns red or blotchy when you drink, please do not drink. Hot tea will be better for you if you have nerves.
What if I’m not as skinny as I planned or I feel puffy on the day of my shoot? Can I cancel?
I understand but we all have those days. The truth is that is how YOU FEEL and not how you actually look or how the LOVE OF YOUR LIFE sees you. It’s perception vs reality. The reality is you are beautiful! Quite frankly, that excuse is silly and no- you can not cancel for that reason. You need to trust me to capture the best you, which I will and you will love your images.
Will I wear clothes or lingerie the entire time?
You are not required to be nude but if you want to, you can. You will always be covered and the environment is 100% professional. Nude photography is entirely up to your comfort level. I do love an image that shows your back, or a body silhouette, maybe a nip slip or just gives the impression that you are nude. These images are always stunning and are the ultimate WOW page in your album.
How long does it take before I can see my photos?
We will book a viewing session at the time we photograph you. Typically, I want you to come back in 2 weeks after the session. At the viewing, you will be asked to pick out your images that will go in your album or other products. Upon request, images can go online for 14 days after the order is placed.
Will you be using my photos on your website?
While I do reserve the right to use non-identifying images that do not show your face, you will have complete control over photos that show your face. Within the model release, the client will be able to have the right as to what images can be used. Online galleries are password protected. If I do anything with your images online, you will know about it before I post!
What is your cancellation policy?
We require a 50% retainer and it is non-refundable. I will also hold a credit card on file and in the event of a no-show, the card will be charged the remaining balance. But if life gets in the way, please let me know ASAP so we can reschedule and I can re-open your appointment to someone else.
